Welcome To VBClinics.com!
VBClinics.com is the nation's best place to learn the
sport of volleyball. I offer two-day volleyball camps
for junior high and high school volleyball players (ages
12-18) as well as adult players in over 30 cities across
the US! Please click the Volleyball Camp Schedule
and see if I am going to be close to you.
Olympic Gold Medalist Pat Powers has developed a learning
method that can teach you how to master the game of volleyball
over a short two-day span at a summer volleyball camp
near you!
Take a quick test and ask yourself these critical
questions:
1. Do you jump up with your legs when you pass?
2. Do you hit balls into the net, or out when serving?
3. Do you hit balls from the shoulder when spiking?
4. Do you set the ball to your hitters?
5. Do you watch the ball when playing defense?
Here are the answers to the above questions:
Answer #1 Advanced players bend into the ball
when passing. It is how we control the ball and deal with
power. We do not jump up from our knees to elevate the
ball.
Answer#2 If you are serving balls out or into
the net, you are hitting the ball from the shoulder instead
of snapping from your elbow.
Answer #3 75% of your power is generated from
your elbow and wrist when spiking. You also get a phenomenon
called "Extension" when you snap from your elbow.
Answer #4 Advanced players set the hitter not
the ball. It is done by knowing what to watch when
setting and keeping your hitters headed in the right direction.
Answer #5 There are three things we watch when
we play defense: The hitter, the hitter and the hitter.
We do not watch the ball or block.
How do I achieve such high results?
Simple. First I give you the theory of
each skill and how it relates to a high level of play.
Typically there are several things players do that keep
them from achieving the next level. Then I "Over-Correct"
your movement to get you into the right position. Next
we do a drill using the over-corrections
and then finish by playing "Volleyball Survivor."
What is Volleyball Survivor?
Survivor is the essence of the clinic! It is a simple
King/Queen of the court volleyball game I have designed
to get you doing the Over-Corrections while you are playing.
It is a highly effective (and Challenging!) method of
teaching you the skills of the game.
How about Skill Level?
One hour into the clinic I separate out the players by
how hard they hit--it is a safety issue for me and a comfort
issue for all palyers. Typically we have one court of
adults and junior boys, one court of junior girls and
one court of novice players.
